Alex Watts has announced that he will be launching his new EP, Sing, Strum & Strut, with a nine-show tour around the country this August and September.
Having spent much of 2013 touring Australia and the UK as a solo artist, this EP was put together to showcase the quieter moments that typify an Alex Watts solo show, a sound that differs greatly from the more expansive sonics of his currently eight-piece band the Foreign Tongue (featuring members of Oh Mercy, Eagle and the Worm and The Hello Morning).
Watts has been earning himself a reputation as one of the most exciting songwriters to come out of Melbourne in the last few years. Whether solo or backed by the Foreign Tongue, Watts’ unique blend of rock & pop draws from the wit of Elvis Costello, the swagger of Joe Strummer, and the grit and raw emotion of 1960’s RnB.
Backed by Steven Clifford of The Hello Morning, Alex Watts will be bringing the tour to Adelaide's Rhino Room on August 16th. It's going to "rock".
Also on the bill are some of Adelaide's finest:
